Local artist Leisa Gunton is Artist in Residence at the Arts & Ecology Centre in the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden during March. She will open her studio doors to the public on the designated days and times listed.
Leisa considers herself a rainforest artist, inspired by the plethora of forms, textures and the many shades of green. She uses an assortment of media and techniques to create representations of nature.
During her residency Leisa wants to unravel the connection to the great southern land ‘Gondwana’. Which leads to her fascination of fossils and ferns and in particular the magnificent tree ferns.
Leisa is an active member of Little Yabba Bushcare, land for wildlife and is a volunteer at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve making scientific displays. Inspiring others to care for our beautiful and important forests is her passion.
