With Black Friday 2024 approaching on November 29th, Buy Local Sunshine Coast is rallying the community to shop local and support local businesses during one of the most significant shopping events of the year. Black Friday spending in Australia has seen unprecedented growth in recent years, with nearly $9 billion spent in 2023, marking a 22% increase from the previous year. November is now outpacing December as the peak retail sales period, creating a unique opportunity to drive local economic growth on the Sunshine Coast.
This year, Buy Local Sunshine Coast, proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council and Matters Magazine, is launching an initiative to encourage locals to prioritise their favourite local shops, services, and online businesses. By shopping locally, residents find fantastic deals and contribute to sustaining local jobs and helping Sunshine Coast businesses thrive.
“We all know a friend, family member, or neighbour who owns a business on the Sunshine Coast,” said Luke Hawley, representative of Buy Local Sunshine Coast. “By shopping local this Black Friday, we can collectively make a real impact on the community. It’s about supporting the people who make the Sunshine Coast unique.”
To support local businesses this Black Friday, Buy Local Sunshine Coast is giving 25 local businesses the chance to win a marketing package valued at over $1,000 each. This package includes:
In addition, two lucky winners will receive a half-page ad in three issues of Matters Magazine, valued at $2,500 – an incredible opportunity for small businesses to reach a broader audience.
