Sunshine Coast soul/R’n’B artist Will Clift has announced his highly awaited debut EP I Know You Know, co-written and produced by Matt Corby.
Featuring his highly praised tracks “Sublime” and “Quietly Scrolling”, I Know You Know features two brand new tracks. This EP sees him delve into his experiences with relationships, emotions and the weight of society’s expectations.
Will shared, “The release was brought to life at Matt’s home studio Rainbow Valley Records and spans over four tracks inspired by our shared love for soul and R’n’B music.
Delving into emotions and themes from finding serenity to navigating disappointment, the EP shares raw and honest stories and hones in on my passion for songwriting. Sonically, the EP covers a wide spectrum from soul inspired dance tracks to folky ballads.”
Kicking things off with “Quietly Scrolling”, this dance-inspired track unveils introspective lyrics about the push and pull of relationships. “Sublime” is a groove-infused track reflecting on themes of resilience in the face of hardship, leaving you feeling inspired. Processing the trauma of a devastating event, “How Deep” places emotional weight on the lyrics with stripped back production. Closing out on “I Know You Know”, Will uses early 2000’s R’n’B production to shine a light on the flaws of the music industry and the emotional toll artists must bear.
Recently wrapping up his Sublime Tour along the East Coast, Will has quickly earned a reputation for his exceptional musicianship and dynamic stage presence.
The momentum around Will Clift comes as no surprise to his hometown of the Sunshine Coast. A staple of the local scene, he got his start busking around Eumundi Markets. Up until recently, he was living out a Troy Bolton lifestyle, playing rugby full-time whilst trying to pursue music, before committing full time to his path in music last year. With industry knocking at his door, he began
recording with Matt Corby at his home studio, Rainbow Valley and in addition, landed a mentorship with Matt as part of the Wild Turkey 101 Music Mentorship program.
Since his 2018 debut, Will has accumulated over 500,000 streams to date. Garnering attention from unforgettable shows like his support run with Milku and sold-out gigs in Sydney and Melbourne, his cathartic performances have impressed crowds in notable venues such as Oxford Art Factory, the Gasometer, Northcote Social and Solbar.
Hitting homeruns in 2024 with a string of releases including “Two Door”, “Feels Like”, “Designer”, he is ending the year on a high note with the release of his highly anticipated debut EP.
