Nellie – “My Earth Angel”A Captivating Debut on Australian AMRAP and Digital Platforms
Nellie, formally known as Nellie Donovan, is a Star Maker finalist and a touring recording and songwriting powerhouse. After taking a break for over 16 years to become a mother and business owner, she feels it’s time to reconnect with her past songs and reinvent her future in music. With encouragement from her husband, country music veteran Col Finley, Nellie is back on the scene.
Given her impressive background and a lengthy list of songwriting accolades, it is time to shine a spotlight on both her songs and her talents as a vocalist.
“My Earth Angel” will be the first release in a series of songs coming out over the next few months, reintroducing listeners to one of Australia’s hidden treasures. This heartfelt track, co-written with Nashville-based songwriter Chaise Flanders, reflects on the sudden loss of Nellie’s brother, wife, and sister-in-law, Dianna, in a tragic motor vehicle accident. Nellie’s family has always been close-knit and loving, but this tragedy brought them even closer together as they rallied to support her brother, Gary, and help raise their three children.
Nellie often states that Dianna has been a constant presence in her music and life; she is still dearly missed and remembered frequently. “My Earth Angel” was the most emotionally charged song I have ever written, but it was also a time for healing—for myself and my family.
