Queensland alt-rock risers The Phosphenes are back with their brand-new single Telephone, dropping October 3rd, 2025.
Recorded at Airlock Studios with engineer James See and mastered by Paul Blakey, Telephone finds the band sharpening their edge with a track that’s equal parts nervy, loud, and instantly relatable.
Lyrically, the song leans into that universal moment of doubt after a first date — do you call straight away, wait it out, or not call at all? Wrapped in fuzzed-out guitars and a hook built to shout along with, Telephone turns modern uncertainty into a cathartic, high-voltage anthem.
Since forming in 2022, The Phosphenes have carved a name for themselves in Queensland’s indie and garage rock scenes, channeling grunge grit and post-punk energy into blistering live sets. With their debut EP Loose (2022) and sophomore release Cletus (2024), the band built a loyal following of fans hungry for raw energy and big choruses. Telephone is their boldest step forward yet.
The single will be launched with a headline show at Solbar on October 3rd, featuring Speira, Table Manners, and Left Cassette. With a stacked lineup and The Phosphenes’ explosive live reputation, it’s set to be a night that rattles the walls.
Born in Caboolture in 2022, The Phosphenes are a new force in Australian alternative rock. Mixing garage grit, grunge roots, and a love of big hooks, the band’s music speaks to the chaos, connection, and contradictions of growing up in the modern age.
