Australian artist and producer Christian Patey has finished off the year with his album called ‘Fluorescent’. After several releases in the more electronic alt/pop realm in the past, Christian has created an acoustic album stripping his songs back to an organic feel and meaning.
Following the success of pre-released singles “Crystal Dust,” “Don’t Follow the Internet,” and “Nitrogen,” Patey’s titled track “Fluorescent,” features ‘Phoebe Rose’ and he also teamed up with Jordan Lawrence (Calan Mai) on the co-write.
The titled track ‘Fluorescent’ is about finding someone who makes you feel okay as you are, someone who tames your ego and helps you release the pressure of “falling behind” in the constant race of life. It’s a reminder to step away from the chaos, embrace vulnerability, and refocus on what truly matters.
Across the album, Fluorescent explores themes of self-worth, family, ego, and carving your own path, reflecting on the people and moments that truly matter. Musically, it’s rooted in rich acoustic textures, minimal electronic sounds, balancing raw intimacy with modern depth.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Bon Iver, Patey crafts a sound that feels grounded, reminding listeners to find light in their own stories.
