Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club will mark 100 years of watching over our shores and honour its remarkable members with a milestone event – the first-ever Legends Patrol, bringing together generations of lifesavers for one unforgettable morning on the beach.
From Olympians including Lani Pallister and Aly Bull to Life Members and Order of Australia recipients such as Kristy Munroe and Lorraine Buhk alongside Hall of Famers, Iron Series stars and family favourites like Jett Kenny The Legends Patrol will see Alex icons return to the sand to patrol side-by-side with today’s members from Nippers to Masters and everyone in between.
“The Legends Patrol is about celebrating legacy, the people who have shaped Alex Surf Club and inspired the next generation,” said Vice Club Captain Dave McLenaghan.
“It’s a rare opportunity for our young members to share the beach with the heroes they’ve grown up idolising and to see firsthand what it means to be part of the Alex family.”
Running from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the patrol will be followed by a Post-Patrol Soirée with the President and Board of Management, where members and guests can reconnect, share stories, and toast to a century of community spirit.
The Soirée will also feature the premiere of the “Alex Legends” teaser video, spotlighting the club’s most distinguished members and capturing the stories, achievements, and friendships that have defined Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club for generations.
To honour the past legends, Bluff Bar will be serving up a special “Legends Burger” available for one day only. Think a stacked Aussie classic: beetroot, lettuce, pineapple, egg, cheese, and a juicy beef pattie – quintessential Queensland. All for just $20. Get in early, it’s available Sunday only, that old-school taste that fuelled our surf lifesaving legends of yesteryear.
Community members, supporters, and families are warmly invited to witness history in the making a morning at an event that captures the connection, courage, and camaraderie that have made Alex Surf Club the heart of the Sunshine Coast for a century.
Because at Alex, today’s Nipper becomes tomorrow’s lifesaver. That’s the circle of beach life and it’s been playing out for 100 years.
