It’s official! Alex by the Sea Festival is Bringing Live Music Back to the Coast for Two Big Days

Sunshine Coast, QLD, 6th and 7th June

Alexandra Headland’s signature oceanfront event, Alex by the Sea, is set to return on 6 and 7 June 2026, bringing two days of live music, community connection and coastal celebration to the heart of the Sunshine Coast.

Day One will deliver a high-energy indie rock showcase featuring Beddy Rays, The Buoys, Letters to Lions, Vlads and Camino Gold, alongside the winner of the local artist competition. A secret headline act will also join the lineup, to be revealed in early April, following an embargo agreement.

Day Two shifts into a more relaxed, nostalgic atmosphere, led by crowd-favourite tribute acts celebrating Fleetwood Mac, INXS and Queen, with Australian music icon Ross Wilson headlining the evening.

Presented by Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club, Alex by the Sea continues to grow year on year, pairing nationally recognised live entertainment with iconic ocean views and a strong community purpose.

Designed for event-goers seeking atmosphere, a good time and meaningful celebrations, Alex by the Sea delivers more than just a great night out.

Every ticket sold helps fund vital surf lifesaving services, training programs and youth development on the beach.

“Every celebration here carries purpose,” said Helen Butler, General Manager of Alex Surf Club. “Alex by the Sea is about bringing people together for great music and great memories, while directly supporting the volunteers who keep our coastline safe.”

Following the success of past events, the festival continues to grow, expanding capacity and increasing its reach across the Sunshine Coast.

“Each year we’re welcoming more visitors, supporting more local artists, and contributing to tourism on the Sunshine Coast,” Butler said. “Our goal is to keep building something that benefits the entire community.”

Alex by the Sea remains committed to nurturing emerging talent. After performing at Bluff Fest, Sunshine Coast artist Jemzel reflected on her journey from bedroom musician to festival performer.

“I feel really privileged to have this experience, here on home soil on the Sunshine Coast, and to be part of such an awesome line-up,” she said. “I’m someone who was in their bedroom playing a bit of music to be able to play a festival.”

Building on this ethos, Alex by the Sea 2026 will launch a new competition inviting local indie acts to submit an original track for the chance to secure a spot on the official lineup to open Day 1 of the festival. Artists can submit their tracks to events@alexsurfclub.com.au to enter.

Attendees can expect a vibrant, social atmosphere, premium hospitality, pop-up bars, food trucks and epic live performances just steps from the sand – creating a uniquely coastal festival experience.
