There’s a certain freedom in choosing yourself, in letting go of expectation, giving into temptation and rewriting the rules on your own terms. Continuing a bold new era of self-liberation and confidence, Boorloo/Perth-based artist EDIE announces her new EP and unveils the title track, ‘Garden of Edie’ (out Thursday, May 7). Embracing an intoxicating fusion of electronic pop and dance in place of her pop-rock and indie roots, EDIE’s sophomore EP will be released on Thursday, June 4

Her last single ‘Fall of Man’ (released in March) offered only a glimpse of what lies ahead on this new path for EDIE. Controlled and restrained, it served as a gentle introduction, unfolding through slow-burning, atmospheric electronic textures.

Now, with ‘Garden of Edie’, she opens the gates to something far more immediate. With her signature bite, EDIE delivers a dark, club-ready sound, shaped by brooding synth textures, driving electronic beats and a restless, after-hours energy.

Partnering again with producer Calvin BennetEDIE doubles down on her pop instincts, layering glossy melodies and infectious hooks through sleek production. Dangling temptation just within reach, ‘Garden of Edie’ is seductive, testing and liberating, capturing the pull of indulgence, selfishness and the ecstasy of letting go. EDIE shares:

“This song is about letting go of the pressure and expectations that are put on you! I wanted to create a cathartic, feel-good, dance song about creating a world that doesn’t revolve around anyone but yourself. When I was writing it I was at a time in my life where I felt overwhelmed and confused about where I was going, so I decided to let go of that feeling and instead focus on all the good in my life!”

Drenched in Y2K styling, the accompanying music video directed by Stepanie Senior unfolds as a night out defined by indulgence and letting go. Set against neon-lit dancefloors and the alleyways between clubs, flashes of handheld digital cameras are woven throughout, nodding to early 2000s nightlife. Capturing candid, unfiltered moments as EDIE and her girls move through a blur of bodies and light, as a tightly choreographed routine takes shape.

Give in to temptation on Thursday, May 7 with ‘Garden of Edie’, a track that sees EDIE bloom into a bold, dance-driven era that is intoxicating, liberating and impossible to resist. Then on Thursday, June 4, indulge in her new EP.
