About the event

A wonderful blend of clowning, theatre and circus the whole family will enjoy.
Young audiences will discover the passion of reading and the power of the imagination, whilst enjoying a series of great adventures.
A HILARIOUS SHOW THAT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO READ!
At first glance, Paul-Émile Dumoulin seems like just a regular librarian, he has been working at his town’s library for 25 years. He’s serious and nervous, also proud and sometimes so clumsy.
He embodies the book’s characters for them to become suddenly very alive and expressing themselves with acrobatics, acrobalance, juggling, break dance and beat box.
He is serious, proud and very orderly. Every book is in its place on his impeccable shelves. The only problem? As soon as Paul-Émile gets his nose in a book, reality disappears, giving way to the slightly crazy worlds he discovers between the pages.
On his adventures, the very sensible librarian metamorphoses. He suddenly turns into strange and silly characters who perform acrobatics, balancing, juggling, break dancing and beatboxing. Just how far will reading take him? This show blends clowning, physical theatre and circus arts. It invites young audiences to discover the passion of reading and the power of the imagination, which whisks readers away to faraway lands, on an adventure, or into a romance or thriller.
Based in Canada, Le Gros Orteil is an organisation whose mission is to create high quality shows for young audiences, combining the disciplines of clowning, theatre and circus. They advocate improvisation as a starting point when bringing a show to life, truthful emotions and interaction with the audience are also a priority.
