THE CAMPUS REVIVAL TOUR Connects Students, Artists and the Live Music Industry
Many of Australia’s most regarded bands and artists have emerged from the wellspring of creativity found across our university campuses. Ballpark Music, The Cat Empire, Grinspoon, The Whitlams, TISM, Blue King Brown, Architecture in Helsinki and Machine Gun Fellatio to name a few.
Introducing ‘The Campus Revival Tour’, a four-part interstate university touring project bringing live music back to campuses across the country. Created by Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT) student-led Vermilion Records, the initiative supports emerging Australian artists through paid touring opportunities, reconnects students and their communities with live music, and explores the attitudes, barriers and motivations shaping live music participation among university-aged Australians.
Associate Professor Kristina Kelman, Study Area Coordinator for Music at QUT, Founder and Head of Vermilion Records, and Campus Revival Tour Project Lead, said:
“This tour sits at the intersection of everything we do at Vermilion – training students for the industry, giving emerging artists paid touring work, and confronting the decline in live music participation among young Australians. Universities have produced some of this country’s finest artists, but that pipeline doesn’t sustain itself. If we want a live music industry in ten years, we have to invest in where it starts – on campus, with real gigs, real audiences, and real stakes for everyone involved.”
Accompanied by the best local bands from each city and headlined by rising indie pop favourite Serendipiti, the 2026 edition brings free live music to campuses this August.
Headliner Serendipiti released her debut EP, ‘idealist’ on May 27, 2026. Balancing soaring, light-hearted melodies against brooding, heart-wrenching lows, the EP showcases Serendipiti’s beguiling romantic optimism, amassing over 60,000 collective streams.
Featuring three bonus tracks, ‘The Campus Revival Tour’ will see Serendipiti launching the deluxe version of ‘idealist’ – ‘idealist (realist)’. With glowing reviews across Triple J Unearthed likening her to Sigur Ros and Florence & the Machine and standout performances everywhere from BIGSOUND 2025 to support slots for the likes of Thelma Plum, Infinity Song (USA), Jem Cassar-Daley, and Kyle Lionheart.
Wollongong Uni kicks off with The Jam – UOW Student Music Comp, where comp finalists will battle it out before Serendipiti hits the stage whilst Jacinta Drumond, Lemonise, The Ra Ta Tas and Moon Boots get things started in Sydney and Brisbane respectively.

What is The Campus Revival Tour?
Funded by Creative Australia and created by Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT’s) student-led Vermilion Records, The Campus Revival Tour is a four-part interstate university touring project running across 2026 – 2028, bringing live music back to campus venues around the country.
The tour gives 60+ emerging artists and headline acts paid professional performance opportunities across the East Coast, alongside access to new audiences, all while sitting alongside, not competing with, existing venues and music industry initiatives.
The university-based model is intentional. Universities are public-facing cultural hubs, and campus spaces have the potential to become permanent, community-accessible performance venues. The Campus Revival Tour is about reconnecting students and the public with live music on campus, while forging stronger ties between education and industry.
Students will also have the experience of managing everything from artist bookings and promotion to sound, production, event management and PR, in partnership with student guilds, venues, and industry professionals.
At its core, The Campus Revival Tour is a commitment to great live music and authentic, practical music education. Bridging academic learning and industry, supporting emerging artists with paid, professional performance opportunities and rebuilding grassroots live music infrastructure damaged by venue closures and regional challenges through a sustainable, replicable model that strengthens Australia’s cultural ecology.
