Two Sunshine Coast women are turning a major personal challenge into an opportunity to make a difference, with Silvana Mahony and Margie Adame-West preparing to take on the Freycinet Adventure 2026 while raising vital funds for Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ).
The pair, known as Team Silvana & Margie, are taking on a 45km Walk for Change challenge in Tasmania, with a fundraising goal of more than $10,000. Their efforts will support Women’s Legal Service Queensland and its work providing vital legal assistance and support to women across Queensland.
Before they head off on their adventure, the community is invited to join them for a special fundraising afternoon at 10 Toes Brewery on Sugar Road on Sunday 27 September.
A community afternoon with plenty to win
The free community event will run from 2:00pm to 5:30pm, bringing together live music, food, drinks, raffle prizes and plenty of local support for the cause.
More than 20 prizes will be up for grabs, with the giveaway featuring contributions from Sunshine Coast and Queensland businesses across local experiences, family days out, wellness, dining, retail and lifestyle.
Among the standout prizes are a $300 original pet artwork from Amanda Hill Art, a Ginger Factory Family Pass for its Taste & Discovery experience, a family admission pass to Wildlife HQ Zoo, three-session beginner packages from Hinterland Float & Wellness, an adult ticket to Australia Zoo and a $50 voucher from 10 Toes Brewery.
There are also vouchers and prizes from local retailers and businesses, giving the community plenty of reasons to come along, support the fundraiser and enjoy an afternoon together at 10 Toes.
Supporting a vital cause
For Silvana and Margie, the fundraiser is about more than completing a physical challenge. Their aim is to use their adventure to raise awareness and much-needed funds for Women’s Legal Service Queensland.
“We’re Silvana and Margie, walking the Freycinet Adventure to raise vital funds for Women’s Legal Service Queensland. Every dollar helps change lives.”
The Freycinet Adventure is scheduled for 16 to 22 October 2026, giving the pair a few weeks after the 10 Toes fundraiser to continue building support for their campaign.
