FROM THE ROOTS CELEBRATES THREE YEARS ON AIR WITH A NIGHT OF LIVE MUSIC, COMMUNITY & GIVING BACK

After  three years of championing Australian country, folk and roots music on Brisbane airwaves, local lover of Aussie roots music, Georgia Scarlett, is taking the celebration out of the studio and onto the stage.

On Saturday 12 December 2026, From the Roots will celebrate its third anniversary with a special live concert at Crowbar, Brisbane, bringing together the artists, listeners and wider roots music community for a night of live music, line dancing, storytelling and community, all while raising funds for rural Australian charity Farm Angels.

Hosted by Brisbane singer-songwriter, radio presenter and MC Georgia Scarlett, the event will feature four country, western, folk and roots acts: Maleny-based Shanleigh Rose; Sunshine Coast-based Phoebe Rose; and Brisbane-based artists Ella Jones and Open Season Band.

The evening will also include Gilly’s line dancing, a raffle, exclusive event merchandise and plenty of opportunities for music lovers to come together and celebrate.

Speaking about her program and the community she has built, Georgia Scarlett shares:

“From the Roots has always been about creating connections between artists and listeners, between different corners of the Australian roots music community, and between people and the stories behind the songs.”

“Championing artists is my calling. I may be a musician myself, but I’ve always known that I’m not me if I’m not supporting and uplifting the people around me. Having welcomed more than 170 artists onto From the Roots, this show has become so much more than a radio program, it’s my baby, and one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever poured my time and energy into. I wouldn’t have it any other way. From the Roots is just the beginning of my career in music media, and I truly believe this is what I was born to do.”

Since launching in 2023, From the Roots has welcomed a different guest artist into the studio every week, with Scarlett interviewing more than 170 artists from across Australia and beyond. Each program combines live performance with conversations that explore the stories, inspirations and journeys behind the music.

While deeply connected to Brisbane’s grassroots music scene, the program has developed a broader audience through its commitment to shining a light on both emerging and established artists working across country, folk and roots music.

The anniversary concert aims to capture that same spirit in a live setting, bringing the warmth and storytelling of the radio program together with the energy of a live music event.

MUSIC WITH A PURPOSE

At the heart of the anniversary celebration is Farm Angels, a charity providing direct and timely assistance to Australian primary producers and rural communities affected by drought, flood, fire and other natural disasters.

Farm Angels provides financial assistance, essential resources, food hampers, care packs and mental wellbeing support to rural communities across Australia.

Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting Farm Angels, creating a connection between Brisbane’s roots music community and the rural communities and landscapes that inspire so much of the music celebrated on From the Roots.

“Country and roots music has always had such a strong connection to community, place and the Australian landscape. Supporting Farm Angels felt like a really natural extension of what From the Roots is about, celebrating music while giving something back to the people and communities behind it.” (Georgia Scarlett)

A NIGHT FOR THE ROOTS COMMUNITY

With four independent acts on the bill, line dancing throughout the evening and Georgia Scarlett guiding audiences between performances, the event promises to be more than a traditional concert.

Guests are encouraged to embrace the occasion and dress accordingly: boots, belts, hats, denim and lace are all welcome.

The event will bring together musicians, music lovers, industry reps, radio listeners and members of Brisbane’s wider creative community.
