Showcasing her dedication to nurturing the next generation of talent, Sarah McLeod of The Superjesus has thrown her support behind the Sunshine Coast’s punk rock trio, Wave Raiders and their upcoming debut single launch. What makes this extraordinary? The band members are only 12 and 14 years old.
Formed in 2022, the Wave Raiders – comprised of brothers Pete and Tom and their best mate Jayden – have rapidly ascended from bedroom jam sessions to national recognition. These talented musicians have already made a significant impact with performances at renowned venues and festivals and are now securing gigs that make musicians twice their age green with envy and desperate to replicate their secret sauce.
It was their headline performance at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music that caught McLeod’s attention, who was stopped in her tracks by their punk rock energy.
“Wave Raiders have spunk to burn! They set the crowd alight. Every time I’ve seen them, people stop in their tracks to watch and listen. That’s how I discovered them. I was walking past and BOOM,” said McLeod.
Now that Wave Raiders have caught the eye of one of Australia’s rock icons, the launch event for their debut single, “Fun,” promises to be yet another milestone in their burgeoning career. The single launch will take place at Sol Bar, Sunshine Coast, on 13 October.
Loaded with an old-school rock ‘n’ roll vibe, “Fun” is a love letter to everything that’s made their upbringing a blast and McLeod hopes everyone backs the launch event to help celebrate this career milestone.
“I’m thrilled to support these incredible young musicians and the single launch will show the industry that the Wave Raiders are the real deal – an unstoppable force ready to take on the world,” said McLeod.
“It’s so important to get behind live concerts and support our homegrown Australian talent; they are the future of our music scene.”
Wave Raiders are also earmarked to support The Superjesus on their 2025 tour, where they plan to release another upcoming single. This tour will further solidify their place in the Australian rock scene and launch their music into the national spotlight.
Pete, the band’s vocalist and lead guitarist, expressed the band’s excitement for the upcoming launch and having the backing of one of their all-time idols.
“It’s surreal to have someone like Sarah McLeod believe in us. We’ve looked up to her for so long and now we get to share this important night with her. It’s a dream come true,” said Pete.
“We’re so grateful for this opportunity. We’ve worked really hard and to have someone of Sarah’s stature recognise that means the world to us.”
For their epic launch, the Wave Raiders are throwing the doors wide open, calling on fans to help shape the night’s lineup. They’re putting the power in their hands with a social media call-out to vote for their favourite artists, giving other rising stars a shot at the spotlight.
