The iconic Australian rock band Hoodoo Gurus will join the grand opening of Team Musicare Sunshine Coast, a world-first initiative aimed at transforming lives through inclusivity, employment, and community engagement. The event will kick off at 10:00 AM on 31st January 2025 and feature a special Hoodoo Gurus performance later that evening.
This event celebrates a powerful partnership between The Station and Team Musicare, two forces coming together to create a program that promises to bring lasting change. “The creative energy on the Sunshine Coast is infectious,” said Dan Nebe, Founder and Director of Team Musicare. “This initiative will help the region become the cultural capital of Queensland.”
The action-packed day will include workshops, jam sessions, a silent disco, and drum circles, culminating in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony from 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM, where the Hoodoo Gurus will take part. Joining them will be an all-star lineup, including Tom Busby (Busby Marou), Diana Anaid, Bob Spencer (Skyhooks, Angels, Rose Tattoo), Natalie Gauci (Australian Idol Winner), and many more.
The event will also host the Sunshine Coast Mayor, local councillors, and notable media personalities, all united to celebrate this groundbreaking initiative.
More Than Music: A Multi-Disciplinary Program
Team Musicare Sunshine Coast isn’t just about the arts—it’s about building a comprehensive platform to address real-world skills and opportunities. The program offers participants hands-on experience in a range of disciplines, including:
Youth Justice: A Core Focus
A key and integral part of the program is its Youth Justice initiative, developed in collaboration with government agencies and NGOs. The program provides at-risk youth with meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and build skills in a safe and supportive environment.
“We believe in creating second chances,” said Nebe. “By working closely with government agencies and non-government organizations, we aim to offer these young people a path to a brighter future, equipping them with the tools to succeed in life and their careers.”
The initiative connects participants to training in creative industries while addressing broader issues such as social isolation, skill development, and employability.
Empowering Communities
The program addresses key community needs, including:
“This isn’t just a music program—it’s a movement that unites creativity, industry, and community to change lives,” added Nebe.
Media and Interviews
Media representatives are invited to cover the day’s events and participate in interviews with program leaders, participants, and special guests, including the Hoodoo Gurus and other attending artists.
