About the event
Wearable art is an exciting and unique intersection of art colliding with fashion and costumery.
The Australian Wearable Art Festival is delighted to provide a platform for artists and designers to embrace their creative exploration into form, structure, texture and colour using an eclectic mix of often unusual materials. Pieces merge materials in weird and wonderful collaborations where art, science, fashion and technology all collide.
In August 2024, the Australian Wearable Art Festival will see the return of the Gala Awards catwalk show to Sunshine Coast, Queensland and where four main categories will celebrate the creation of artworks – TRASHION, SUSTAINABILITY, AVANT GARDE AND FLORIANA. There will also be a number of other events held as part of the festival week including talks, workshops and exhibitions.
Whether as an artist or audience member, we look forward to welcoming you to our AWAF 2024.
A spectacular fusion of sculptural art and fashion – where Gaultier meets Picasso. The Australian Wearable Art Festival is a unique opportunity where designers and artists showcase breath-taking wearable art pieces on an impressive 27 metre long catwalk. Forty national and international entries will once again take to the stage in 2024 to compete in the Gala Awards, where audiences will be fully-immersed in a world of creativity like no other.
