Sunny Coast local Chris Cobb cements Four-Chair Turn on The Voice Australia

Sunshine Coast singer-songwriter Chris Cobb is making waves locally and nationally after delivering a powerful, emotionally charged performance of Cold Chisel’s “When the War Is Over” on The Voice Australia, earning a rare and exciting four-chair turn from all four coaches.

Chris’s remarkable audition has sparked a buzz across social media, with fans, fellow musicians, and community members flooding his feeds with congratulations and pride. From heartfelt comments on Facebook and Instagram, it’s clear Chris’s performance has struck a chord far beyond the Sunshine Coast.

On Sunday night’s episode, Ronan Keating was the first coach to turn his chair, drawn early by Chris’s rich tone. As Chris built to the song’s emotional peak, Richard Marx, Melanie C, and Kate Miller-Heidke all followed, completing the rare four-chair sweep.

Ronan revealed during the show that he hadn’t known Chris was auditioning but felt the moment was meant to be. He also shared a special family connection: his wife Storm, who spent part of her childhood in Papua New Guinea, is cousin to Chris’s partner, Kalo, inviting Chris to “come home” to Team Ronan.

Richard Marx was visibly moved, later inviting all four coaches to join Chris on stage to sing the chorus of his audition song — one of the season’s most uplifting moments. Melanie C expressed genuine interest in learning more about Chris’s artistry, while Kate Miller-Heidke connected with Chris over their shared Queensland roots and storytelling style. After heartfelt pitches from all coaches, Chris chose to join Team Ronan. Chris’s journey on The Voice Australia continues in the coming weeks
