EDIE Blurs Gothic Horror and Period Drama in ‘Burning’ Music Video
Following the release of her sophomore EP ‘Garden of Edie’, Boorloo/Perth artist EDIE unveils the official music video for ‘Burning’, out Thursday, July 23.
One of the EP’s most emotionally charged moments, ‘Burning’ pairs warm, guitar-led production with the painful realisation that a relationship has become toxic, finding hope in the decision to finally walk away.
Directed by Stephanie Senior, the cinematic clip unfolds inside a candlelit mansion on a storm-ridden night, where EDIE wanders dimly lit corridors in search of something just out of reach. Dressed in Renaissance-inspired costume and surrounded by looming shadows, she moves through the house while avoiding a tense, controlling presence.
In the closing moments, EDIE discovers another version of herself hidden away inside a wardrobe, a symbolic representation of the part of herself lost within the relationship. Together, they escape as the house is left to burn behind them.
Blending gothic horror with period drama, the accompanying music video transforms ‘Burning’ into a psychological tale of survival and self-reclamation. Rather than dwelling on loss, the film centres on rediscovering the parts of ourselves that can become hidden through fear, grief and emotional hardship.
The release of ‘Burning’ continues the visual world established across EDIE’s world, bringing another chapter of the EP to life through cinematic storytelling. The EP is available now on all streaming platforms, with the official music video arriving Thursday, July 23.
