Liquid Lyrics—where the Sunshine Coast’s whispers and wonders converge—returns with an evening of poetry, music and heartfelt connection.

THEME: EYES OF THE HEART

This is a night of poetry that sees beyond the surface.

Through words born not only from thought, but from feeling, we explore what it means to live, speak and create through the eyes of the heart.

Every poem is an invitation to feel more deeply, witness the unseen and give voice to the truths that logic alone cannot hold.

Join us as poets open their inner worlds and share pieces that pulse with vulnerability, vision and soul.

POETRY SLAM RULES

Sign up at the door from 5.45 pm. The first 14 poets to register are guaranteed a place in the slam.

• Three-minute time limit. The timer begins on the first word.
• One point will be deducted for every minute over the time limit.
• Judges will be chosen randomly from the audience.
• Poems must be original work written within the past 12 months.

Ki Ki Nicks is a multifaceted performance artist, creative producer, project manager and storyteller with a lifelong commitment to curiosity, creativity, memorable experiences, meaningful impact and genuine connection.

Growing up in the UK, Ki Ki was always drawn to the magic of the world around her—whether collecting memories or bringing her wild imagination to life. As a young woman, she travelled the globe, working with humanitarian NGOs as a consultant, producing and hosting international documentaries, creating content for artists and entrepreneurs, performing at festivals, on stages and on screen, and facilitating creative embodiment workshops. These experiences allowed her to explore many different ways of living, creating and experiencing the world.

Her artistic journey spans many mediums. She played the lead role in an arthouse noir feature film shot in Wales in 2024 and has written, directed and produced short films in Sicily and London, while acting in several international projects.

A lifelong musician, Ki Ki has created original music with collaborators around the world and has worked as a professional live vocalist since the age of 15. She has also modelled for sustainable fashion brands and worked as a freelance voiceover artist since 2018.

With a gift for storytelling and an unwavering commitment to exploration, Ki Ki’s work brings together artistic expression, meaningful projects and advocacy for living an inspired life.

Laurita is the current Liquid Lyrics slam champ and winner of the Joe Lyunch Memorial Cup

She is a Canadian-born poet, storyteller, and somatic therapist whose words crack open what the world teaches us to hide. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Laurita’s spoken word invites audiences to feel deeply, think critically, and remember that staying soft in a hard world is what makes us human.
