Sunshine Coast Alt-Rock Band VERATIE Return with Dark New Single ‘Tranquillium’

VERATIE (pronounced veh-ruh-tee) are an alt-rock / nu-metal band, based in Southeast Queensland. Formed in 2021 by lead singer-songwriter Sarah and guitarist-beatmaker Connor, and since joined by Pat on drums, VERATIE overlays evocative melodic and rap vocals over an intricate soundscape of synth, heavy guitars and relentless rhythm. They have already supported names such as The Halo Effect (Europe), Beyond the Black (Europe), Redhook, Devilskin (New Zealand), Lagerstein, Krave and more.

VERATIE are set to release their Eighth single “Tranquillium” on Thursday 2^nd of July 2026 across all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Apple iTunes, YouTube Music, Amazon Music & Tidal. Tranquillium was recorded, mixed and produced with James See at Airlock Studios in Brisbane and mastered by Steve Smart at Studio 301 in Sydney. Tranquillium is a dark, hypnotic descent into manufactured comfort. Framed through the perspective of a sinister medical facility administering a fictional drug known as “Tranquillium”, the track explores the seductive nature of surrendering free thought in exchange for safety, comfort and escape.

Lead vocalist Sarah describes Tranquillium as a twisted lullaby that soothes, manipulates and slowly erodes individuality under the illusion of safety. The song blurs the line between care and control, asking listeners how much of themselves they are willing to give away just to feel safe.

Musically, Tranquillium fuses haunting melodic vocals, aggressive nu-metal instrumentation, glitch-infused electronic textures and crushing modern production. The track moves between eerie restraint and explosive intensity, mirroring the mental collapse between dream state and reality. Ethereal passages dissolve into chaotic walls of distortion before being pulled back into the hypnotic refrain: “We prescribe safer dreams for you.”

Potent, unsettling and cinematic in scope, Tranquillium captures the fear of losing autonomy in a world increasingly built to pacify rather than awaken.
